Thank you for visiting.  I'm Amanda.

My Human Resources career began with my family's company in Wichita, KS.  It's because I've always had the lens of an owner, that my approach to Human Capital management reaches beyond traditional "HR".  My focus is always on how a company's largest asset (its people) can be leveraged to best meet organizational needs and goals.

My Path

As with many HR professionals, I found myself introduced to the world of Human Resources quite by accident.  I was working for my family in Kansas as a factory scheduler and Accounts Receivable clerk, when we recognized that we needed an HR department.  We weren't sure what that meant at the time, but the company was growing and we knew it was important to start managing policies and procedures more consistently.  I launched a department of 1 with the belief that HR's purpose was to process vacation and manage employee files. And by the time I left to find my home in corporate America, armed with a masters, 2 credentials in HR and a "good enough is never good enough" attitude, I had an entirely new perspective about what "Human Resources" really meant.

Of course, my real education came with the experiences I was about to have.  I discovered that "Human Resources" means something very different to different companies, and I spent the next 10 years of my life learning how to flex to different organizations' needs, and what it means to be a true business partner and internal consultant.  A global private equity will have an entirely different perspective from a multi-national unicorn start-up.  And a Fortune 50's culture does not have the same HR needs as a private family owned business.  My perspective continued to grow and my ability to flex to an organization's needs became my greatest strength.

Every organization has its own culture and DNA, and there is no single solution that works for all of them.  Whether it's a group facilitation to create a team purpose statement, creating an onboarding program, or even redefining the HR function's value proposition, each engagement needs a specialized and high touch approach that will suit their specific needs.  That's why I'm here, and that's what the team at HCG loves to do.
